MCA CEO Meets with Armenia Fund Board
Los Angeles, CA – On Tuesday, June 24, 2008, the Corporate Board of
Armenia Fund U.S. Western Region met with the Millennium Challenge
Account (MCA) – Armenia Chief Executive Officer Ara Hovsepyan.
The meeting was arranged to update the members of the board on the
progress of the activities of the Millennium Challenge Corporation
(MCC). The MCA was established by the Government of Armenia at the
request of the U.S. MCC. The entity is chiefly responsible for the
proper, transparent implementation of the MCC grant. In 2006, the MCC
awarded the Republic of Armenia a special grant of $235.65 million over
five years to help rebuild the country’s rural roads and irrigation
networks.
Chairperson Maria Mehranian welcomed all board members in her remarks.
She emphasized the timeliness of this meeting and stated that Armenia
Fund continues to be the organization that unites everyone in the
greater Diaspora around the goal and mission of rebuilding Armenia.
Mehranian further stated that the Fund remains the premier fundraising
organization that has past the test of time by brining significant
change to Armenia, while maintaining its unity over 15 years. Therefore,
it is the best forum for the MCA to present its update on Armenia.
Mr. Hovsepyan extensively briefed Armenia Fund board members on the
progress of the projects, including a financial summary to date. Armen
Liloyan, Consul General of Armenia, reiterated the Armenian Government’s
gratitude to the U.S. for continuing its important, humanitarian
projects in Armenia.

America, the Western Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church of North
America, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, the Social Democratic
Hunchakian Party, the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party, the Armenian
