MORE CAR ACCIDENTS THAN PREVIOUS YEAR

In the first six months of current year 922 car accidents took place,
in the result of which 170 are dead and 1361 injured. Compared with the
last year of the same time period the number of accidents increased
by 131 cases or by 16.6%, the number of dead people increased by 32
and the injured by 21, reported police colonel Margar Ohanyan, the
head of traffic police to the press department of the Police station.
According to him 13.2% of the accidents took place in Yerevan and
35 people are dead in the result of it, 518 are injured. Compared
with the same period of the previous year the number of accidents
increased by 50 cases or by 14.4%. Within six months 18.977 cars
have been imported to Armenia. The majority of the vehicles have been
imported from European countries, Japan and America.
