ArmInfo. Russian-Armenian relations and cooperation may soften the
influence of negative world phenomena on Armenia, President of the
Union of Armenians of Russia Ara Abrahamyan says. He is sure that the
very successful visit of Armenian president to Moscow was the best
evidence of it. ‘Important agreements were achieved on gas tariff and
supply of raw materials for diamond-cutting enterprises in Armenia, as
well as in the sphere of military and technical cooperation, transport
and others>, Abrahamyan said, ITAR-TASS reports referring to Izvestia
newspaper. Now it remains for the parties to fulfill these agreements,
Abrahamyan said. He underlined that ‘not all the political forces in
Armenia and Russia welcome the deepening cooperation between our
countries’. ‘Any delays in fulfillment of the agreements may be used
against the strategic cooperation of Armenia and Russia by the forces
that believe the pro-Russian orientation is insufficient to settle the
economic problems of Armenia’, A. Abrahamyan said. ‘Fortunately, these
sentiments have not become a governing factor for the public opinion
and in political circles so far. However, their growth over the last
years cannot but arouse concern of the two countries’ politicians who
are interested in the strategic partnership of Armenia and Russia>, A.
Abrahamyan said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
