ARMENIAN GAS SERVICE RECEIVED 7,470 CALLS IN FIRST SIX MONTHS 2008

Armenian Gas Service received 7,470 calls in the first six months of
2008, ArmRosgasprom reported.
The 1-04 emergency gas service of ArmRosgasprom says 9,445 of all the
hotline calls related to in-house gas consumption system problems,
383 were connected with the gas-regulating stations, and 642 with
exterior gas mains.
441 were false alarms.
Most emergency calls were about gas leak in gas meters and device.
Forty-seven duly equipped emergency services are currently operating
in Armenia. There are 540,000 natural gas users in the country now.
ArmRosgasprom has a monopoly right to deliver and distribute Russian
natural gas on Armenian market. The company was founded in 1997.
Its current capital totals 278bln AMD ($900mln). The shareholders
are Gasprom (81.16%), the Ministry of Energy and Natural resources
of Armenia (22.78%), and the Itera oil and gas company (5.06%).
