DEFENSE MINISTER SEYRAN OHANIAN RECEIVES CHINESE MILITARY DELEGATION AND BRITISH AMBASSADOR

Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian received today a Chinese
military delegation, led by Major-General Den Zingoun.

A spokesman for the Armenian Defense Ministry, Seyran Shahsuvarian,
told Armenpress that the sides discussed a set of questions relating
to bilateral military-technical cooperation with a focus on deepening
them.

Until now 27 Armenian army officers graduated from Chinese military
academies and 9 more will continue their education there this and
next year.

Today Minister Ohanian received also British ambassador to Armenia
Charles Lonsdale and told him that Armenia is eager to continue
military and technical cooperation with Great Britain, especially in
the area of peacekeeping mission.

The Armenian minister reaffirmed that Armenia can send a non-combat
platoon to Afghanistan where Great Britain has over 8,000 troops.

The minister praised also Great Britain for its active involvement
in preparation of military games to be held under the aegis of the
NATO Partnership for Peace program in Armenia in autumn.
