ARF ARMENIA ORGANIZATION HOLDS ITS CONGRESS

ARF Armenia organization held its 14th congress in Vanadzor on
July 18-20. The congress discussed the work of the Supreme Body and
approved the programs to be implanted for the period to come. The
congress found it justified the party’s participation in the ruling
coalition, meanwhile pointing to the importance of reforming the
political system, fighting against corruption and monopoly as well
as furthering democracy.
The congress reaffirmed ARF’s determination to settle the Artsakh
conflict fairly and in favor of Armenians.
The congress emphasized that the parliamentary commission set up to
deal with the events of March 1, 2008 in Yerevan should pursue the goal
of revealing the whole truth and justify and the public’s expectations.
In regards with Armenia’s foreign policies, the congress resolved that
Turkey’s preconditions are unacceptable for establishing diplomatic
relations, and that the Genocide issue cannot be a subject of
speculations and bargain.
At the end of the day, the congress elected a new Supreme Body,
which includes Armen Rustamian, Artiush Shahbazian, Gagik Gevorgian,
Tatul Harutyunian, Igor Sargsian, Hayrapet Babayan, Hrach Tadevosian,
Hrayr Karapetian, Mikael Manukian, Mushegh Manasian, Romik Manukian,
Ruben Margarian, Simon Simonian, Vardges Atoyan, Vlad Kochunts.
The Supreme Body elected Armen Rustamian as its representative at
its first meeting.
