ARMENIAN AND IRANIAN FOREIGN MINISTERS DISCUSS ARMENIAN-TURKISH RELATIONS

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, who was in Ankara on
a visit last Friday, had a telephone conversation with his Armenian
counterpart Edward Nalbandian.

As the Cihan agency reported quotting the report of the Embassy of
Iran in Ankara, Armenian-Turkish relations were discussed during the
telephone talk.

Mottaki, mentioning that the positive atmosphere formed between Turkey
and Armenia lately is very gladdening, expressed the hope that it
will contribute to establishment of friendship and peace between the
neighboring states. In his turn, Edward Nalbandian emphasized that the
Armenian side greets Iran’s initiatives to carry out a constructive
dialogue between neighboring states.

It was mentioned that during the telephone talk the Iranian Foreign
Minister also said that his state can assume the role of a mediator
between Armenia and Turkey.
