Tabriz, Iran
The commander of the border police of the Iranian Law Enforcement
Force has inspected the common border of the Islamic Republic of Iran,
the Azerbaijani Republic and the Republic of Armenia.
During his visit to the common border, he said that the expansion
of consultations with these countries and border cooperation will
enhance the common borders of these countries.
[The Iranian border police commander, Gen Qasem Reza’i, speaking]
During our visit to border areas, we saw that our border guards,
officers, soldiers and non-commissioned officers had high morale and
were uplifted. They continued their job in the sphere of cooperation
and interaction with neighbouring countries. The border areas have been
provided with modern equipment and their affairs will be reconsidered
and reorganized.
Last year we saw that the performance of border areas was
appropriate. Their programmes and planning were targeted. State-of-
the-art technical equipment such as optic and electronic hardware
has been installed in the region, which had a good effect on their
performance.
We decided that since the borders of the Islamic Republic of Iran
are of national importance, we will strongly deal with any local
and regional attack on border areas. Thank God, all officials pay
attention to our national borders. The Law Enforcement Force has
installed modern equipment in border areas. This hardware has been
handed over to border officials and guards at local and regional
levels. We witness a good welfare situation among our border guards
and officials.
Of course, we still have a long way to go to achieve the goals of the
Islamic Republic of Iran in border issues. We have a 8,755 km common
border with neighbouring countries. We thought that 3,000bn tumans
[3bn dollars] are needed for border officials to control our border
areas totally.
