President Mikheil Saakashvili will arrive in Kars, Turkey today to
participate in a ceremony marking the start of construction of the
Turkish part of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.

The presidents of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia will make speeches
and meet afterwards. The Turkish section, which will be around 70
kilometers in length, will connect Kars in northeastern Turkey to
the Georgian border.

The project was hailed by Saakashvili as a "geopolitical
revolution" last year at the inauguration ceremony of the Georgian
section. However, it is not backed by the US and EU, which are
concerned by the project’s exclusion of Armenia. (Prime News)

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
