ARMENIAN GOVERNMENT DECIDES TO ENLARGE OUTFLOW FROM LAKE SEVAN TO 197 MILLION CUBIC METERS

ARKA
July 25

On Thursday, Armenian Government decided to enlarge the outflow from
Lake Sevan intended for irrigation from present 170 million to 197
million cubic meters.

At its previous meeting held a week earlier, the Government decided
to enlarge the outflow from 150 million to 170 million cubic meters.

Andranik Andreasyan, chairman of State Water Committee, said then
that natural outflows from Harzdan River dwindled recently while
water consumers’ demand grew. That is why the Government decided to
increase the outflow.

He said that 240 million cubic meters will be taken from Sevan
throughout this irrigation season.

He also said that the volumes of let-out water were 108.65 million
as of June 27. M.V.
