12 ARMENIAN POLICEMEN OF JAVAKHK GO TO SOUTH OSSETIAN CONFLICT ZONE

AKHALKALAK, AUGUST 12, ARMENIANS TODAY – NOYAN TAPAN. The situation in
Georgia’s Samtskhe-Javakhk region populated by Armenians is calm but
the local Armenians are storing up food. A-Info news agency reported
that in connection with military hostilities in South Ossetia, the
young men subject to call-up have been forbidden to leave Georgia.
By unofficial information of A-Info, so far 12 Armenian policemen
from Akhalkalak and Ninotsminda regions have gone to the war zone,
and almost all the policemen of Aspindza and Akhaltskha regions have
been moved to Tbilisi.
There is a panic among Turkish experts and builders of Kars-Akhalkalak
railway. Early on August 10 they took their equipment and left the
region for Turkey.
Members of a special detachment keep control of Tsalka-Borzhomi
section of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline.
