CONSTRUCTION GROWS BY 14% IN ARMENIA IN FIRST HALF OF 2008 ON SAME PERIOD OF 2007

YEREVAN, AUGUST 20, NOYAN TAPAN. Construction work of 231 bln 639.4
mln drams (over 753.1 mln USD), including building and assembly
work of 200 bln 615.9 mln drams, was done in Armenia in January-June
2008. Construction grew by 14%, building and assembly work – by 16.8%
as compared with January-June 2007.

According to the data of the RA National Statistical Service, 8% of
construction was done at the expense of the state budget, 0.2% – with
funds of communities, 1% – of the World Bank, 2.9% – humanitarian aid,
26% – private organizations, and 61.9% – with money of the population.
