ARKA
Aug 20, 2008
YEREVAN, August 20. /ARKA/. The Armenian Parliament has started
discussing amendments to the RA Customs Code.
Presenting the draft amendments, Chief of the RA Customs Committee
Gagik Khachatryan said that the amendments regulate relations in
the customs system. Specifically, the amendments provide for customs
clearance of the waste resulting from the processing of goods imported
to Armenia under the "temporary import for processing" regime.
Khachatryan also pointed out that the amendments provide for
new licensed activities – organization of customs supervision
zones. According to him, the zones will operate independently of
customs warehouses. "The Government will set necessary requirements for
the organization of such zones, which will allow Armenia to institute
customs terminals, which has been practiced in developed countries
for a long time," Khachatryan said.
He pointed out that the amendments regulate customs brokers’
responsibility and the order of terminating their activities.
Khachatryan said that the amendments clarify the process of producing
customs declarations.
