Nikoyan Dissatisfied with the Police response
According to the official Police report made to the temporary
committee of RA Parliament studying the events of March 1 and 2, no
order was given to shoot at the demonstrators.
On August 19 the chairman of the comiittee S. Nikoyan appealed to the
Police department and asked more information on March events. The
committee was interested in the details of the operation; the number
of special guns given to the policemen, the number of bullets used
during the clashes, and video versions of the events in the square of
Liberty.
All the questions concerning the possibility of reducing the number of
victims by the right realization of special measures will be cleared
out at the end of the special investigation.
Note that S. Nikoyan was dissatisfied with the results of Police
report claiming the committee will not be able to solve its basic
problems because of lack of information. Taking into consideration the
fact that the committee still has much to do, it is obvious that new
special research group should be created meeting the PACE proposals
and those of EC Ombudsman.
