YEREVAN (A.A) -The Football Federation of Armenia has welcomed Turkish
President Abdullah Gul’s decision to visit Yerevan to watch the game
between Turkish and Armenian national teams on September 6th.

In an exclusive interview with the A.A, Rubel Hayrapetyan, chairman
of the Football Federation of Armenia, said that they completed all
preparatory efforts before the game.

Hayrapetyan welcomed the Turkish president’s decision to visit
Armenia to watch the game, and said that there might be some circles
in Armenia that would raise their objection against Gul’s visit.

President Gul’s visit will constitute a significant step for the
future of relations between Turkey and Armenia, he said.

Meanwhile, Armenian newspapers gave broad place to President Gul’s
upcoming visit to Yerevan. The newspapers said that the visit was not
politically motivated and President Gul would watch the game between
the national teams of Turkey and Armenia.

The World Cup qualifying round match will be played at Yerevan’s
Hrazdan Stadium which has a capacity of 52 thousand people. 2,700
seats were allocated for Turkish supporters.

Tight security measures will be taken in and around the
stadium. Turkish national football team will stay at the Golden palace
Hotel outside city centre of Yerevan.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
