THE MEETING OF ARMENIAN DIPLOMATS

The meeting of the heads of Armenia’s diplomatic missions, consulates
abroad and the divisions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs took
place at the MFA On September 3.
The meeting was opened by President Serzh Sargsyan, who delivered a
speech on Armenia’s foreign policy. The President turned to the main
problems and deeds of the Armenian foreign agency. Speaking about the
situation in the region, Serzh Sargsyan noted: "It’s not necessary
to say that the recent events immediately affected the economy of the
Republic of Armenia. We have stressed many times that peaceful region
is vital for the development of Armenia’s economy. Again blood was
shed in our region, a number of innocent people died."
According to the president, the current situation includes three
pivotal issues for Armenia: settlement of frozen conflicts, transit
routes and increase of tension in international relations.
The President turned to every question in detail and stressed what
should be undertaken with regard to any of the issues raised.
Speeches were delivered also by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan,
Secretary of the Security Council Arthur Baghdasaryan, NKR Foreign
Minister Georgy Petrosyan, Director of the National Security Service
Gorik Hakobyan, President of the State Committee on the Ties with
Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan and Foreign Minister Edward Nal bandian.
During the discussions the participants referred to the priorities
of Armenia’s foreign policy, particularly the recent developments
in the region, the current situation, the issues Armenian diplomacy
faces within the framework of international structures, Armenia’s
bilateral relations with foreign countries.
The agenda includes issues like the process of the peaceful resolution
of the Karabakh issue and Armenia-Diaspora cooperation.
