CSTO ministers call for peaceful settlement of S. Ossetia conflict

MOSCOW Sept 4

The Collective Security Treaty Organization Council of foreign
ministers has endorsed a statement on South Ossetia calling for
peaceful settlement of the remaining problems and welcoming Russia’s
active role in promoting peace in the region, said Armenian Foreign
Minister Edward Nalbandian.

"In the wake of the escalation of the situation surrounding South
Ossetia, we passed a statement, in which the CSTO foreign ministers
called for peaceful resolution of the existing problems and
facilitation of negotiations. Welcoming the approval of the six
principles of the settlement of the conflict in South Ossetia, the
ministers spoke in support for Russia’s active role in promoting peace
in the region," Nalbandian said.
