MANUEL GASPARIAN’S ELECTION HEADQUARTERS SET ON FIRE
Y EREVAN, SEPTEMBER 5, NOYAN TAPAN. The central election headquarters of
Manuel Gasparian, a candidate for prefect’s post in Yerevan’s
Kanaker-Zeytun community, has been attacked and set on fire early in
the morning of September 5. Levon Zurabian, a representative of the
Armenian National Congress, said at a press conference convened the
same day. He stated that it is a manifestation of political violence
and its author is the authorities. "The pro-governmental forces often
say: let the opposition take part in the political struggle through
elections, but even do not try as a matter of form to hold even if the

to him, the authorities are not ready for a civilized struggle: they
are only capable of acts of violence. The Congress representative also
reminded to those present that the prefect candidate’s headquarters was
also attacked two days ago.
