Consultations to Extradite Azerbaijani Officer from Budapest: Speaker

Azerbaijan, Baku, 6 September/ Trend News corr. I.Alizade /The
consultations are being held between Azerbaijan and Hungary to
extradite the senior lieutenant of the Azerbaijani army Ramil
Safarov. Safarov was accused of murdering of Armenian officer in
Budapest and sentenced to life imprisonment. This was said by Katalin
Szili, Speaker of Hungarian Parliament, at the meeting with
representatives of political parties represented in the Parliament.

Safarov was accused of murdering of Armenian officer in February 2004
and sentenced to life imprisonment by the Budapest Court. The Appeal
court retained the sentence.

`The meeting touched upon the extradition of Safarov to his
country. Szili noted that she takes efforts to assist to extradite the
Azerbaijani lieutenant to his country. I asked Szili to take serious
steps in this direction,’ MP Fazail Gazanfaroglu, Chairman of the
Great Establishment party, said.

The sides discussed the ways to extend the relations between
Azerbaijan and Hungary, as well as the problems that Azerbaijan had
faced.

`Szili said that Hungary supports the territorial integrity of
Azerbaijan. The meeting was also focused on the recent developments in
the South Caucasus,’ Gazanfaroglu said.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the ruling New
Azerbaijan party, Civil Solidarity, Democratic Reforms, Great
Establishment and Popular Front of Unified Azerbaijan.
