YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS: Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan
received today the delegation headed by the special commissioner of
the Greek foreign minister, next year’s special commissioner of the
OSCE Nikolaos Kalanzianos, presidential press service told Armenpress.
Next year Greece will assume the chairmanship of OSCE and as
N. Kalanzianos noted, the aim of his visit is to discuss Armenia’s
expectations from the Greek chairmanship as well as exchange thoughts
over the recent developments in the region.
Armenian president said that Armenia pays a great importance to the
cooperation with the OSCE considering it one of the important elements
of Armenia’s security. With the Yerevan office of the organization
a close and effective partnership is established.
Noting that one of the important issues for Armenia – the regulation of
Karabakh conflict – is within the circle of the OSCE, Serzh Sargsyan
said that during the 14 years neither peace, nor war situation is
being maintained by the active work of the OSCE Minsk Group.
According to the Armenian side, OSCE Minsk Group has a lot to do and
has opportunities for the regulation of the conflict and talks or
attempts to move the issue to other instances are aimed at changing
of the format which is rather dangerous.
The president of the country also spoke about the partnership with
different establishments of the OSCE and underscored their objective
and transparent activity.
Nikolaos Kalanzianos referred to the Armenian-Greek cooperation,
noting that excellent relations have been established between the
two countries.
