ArmInfo. Today, Sept 15, at 7:00 PM the supporters of the first
president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrossyan started a rally in the
center of Yerevan, near Matenadaran. It is the first rally sanctioned
by the municipality of Yerevan since the Mar 1 events. The rally
is being held by member of the Political Council of Hanrapetoutyun
(Republic) party Suren Surenyants. While opening the rally he said
that the municipality’s permission was the results of the consistent
struggle of the freedom-loving Armenian people.
"Of course, we can hold unsanctioned rallies as well – we did
it this summer – but today’s action is of special significance,"
Surenyants said.
During the rally the Union of Armenian Volunteers and the Union of
Armenian Women announced that they were joining the Armenian National
Congress led by Levon Ter-Petrossyan.
