ArmInfo. During the ongoing opposition rally in Yerevan the head of
the parliamentary group of Heritage party Armen Martirossyan criticized
the Government for adopting amendments to the law on TV and radio.
He said that the Government postponed the announcement of a tender for
free TV frequencies till 2010 with the only view – to avoid complying
with the verdict of the European Court of Human Rights granting the
claim of A1+ TV company against Armenia. Were the authorities wiser
they would have restored the license of A1+ so asto improve the
freedom of speech situation in Armenia.
The former member of the board of New Times part Hrachya Sargsyan
criticized the amendments to the law on military service stipulating
the abolishment of the determent for students of state universities.
This is a serious step against the genetic fund of the Armenian nation.
