"As a former ambassador to Georgia and a person, who has long been
working for averting the events, which occurred there, I regret
about the events", said OSCE Minsk Group co-chair of France Bernard
Fassier in Khankendi, assessing the current situation in the South
Caucasus region.
"Yet this is a fact and we should analyze it. This fact proves that we,
the co-chairs, and our countries were right stating for already more
than 3 years that there is no other way out except for the peaceful
resolution and that a new war is a suicide for everyone", said the
French co-chair.
He noted that all the regional countries suffered from several days
of military actions.
"Armenia found it hard to continue supplies and transit via
Georgia. Azerbaijan also suffered, realizing the difficulty of using
oil or gas pipelines during war.
That proves the need for the soonest and fastest concentration of
all efforts to attain peaceful solution", concluded Bernard Fassier.
He met with head of Karabakh separatists Bako Saakyan. The meeting
lasted for two hours. After the talk, Bernard Fassier gave a briefing
for local and accredited journalists.
