WHAT DID TOROSSIAN FEAR MOST?

In its September 16 sitting the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK)
confirmed its decision to nominate Hovik Abrahamian as Speaker of
the National Assembly.
In reply to A1+ whether it is expedient to nominate a candidate having
a low rating, HHK MP Edward Sharmazanov said: "Let me disagree with
you. It is your subjective opinion. Even such "outstanding figures"
as Robespierre, Denton, Charles de Gaulle or Francois Mitterrand were
accepted with certain reservations."
Asked whether Hovik Abrahamian ranks among those prominent figures
Sharmazanov gave a hasty answer: "Not at all. I didn’t draw parallels."
Yesterday NA Speaker Tigran Torossian announced he has some
controversies with the HHK in view of some political issues. Torossian
also advised those who worry about his fate to take their 30 silver
and go along their path.
"Tigran Torossian has always voted for the HHK decisions, and everyone
knows his stance on all issues. All controversies are revealed
during the vote. It is the first time I hear Tigran Torossian have
controversies with his fellow colleagues," says Sharmazanov.
Asked whether Torossian was afraid to divulge the truth Sharmazanov
said in utter bewilderment: "What is there to be afraid of? During
the years of his tenure Torossian proved that he fears nothing. We
live in a democratic country where 350 thousand people rally in the
capital streets shouting and screaming. /He meant people shouting
"Levon, President"/
Edward Sharmazanov says he is sorry that Tigran Torossian has
expressed in this way since it is not correct. Tigran Torossian must
be highly emotional which explains his evaluations. With regard to
Tigran Torossian’s decision to resign from the HHK ranks and the HHK
parliamentary faction, Edward Sharmazanov says they respect everyone’s
decision. Torossian was elected to the Parliament on the Republican
ticket, but it will not hinder Tigran Torossian to remain a deputy
after resigning from the Party, especially that Torossian was the
second on the list. Tigran Torossian had a significant contribution
to the number of votes the Party got during the parliamentary election.
