‘LINCY’ ALLOCATED 6 BLN DRAMS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF ONE OF KEY HIGHWAYS OF YEREVAN

ArmInfo. The "Lincy" Fund allocated 6 bln drams for construction of
one of the key highways of Yerevan, Mayor of Yerevan Yervand Zakharyan
told journalists today during the opening of "Saralanji" highway.
The new highway will join the city’s center with the northern regions
and will considerably reduce the load on the existing traffic artery –
Baghramyan Avenue and Khanjyan Street. In particular, Y. Zakharyan
said, henceforth, the highway service between the south and north
of Yerevan will not pass through the center. The total length of the
highway together with road interchanges makes up 6 km. The main road
includes a tunnel between Abovyan Street and Myasnikyan Avenue with
length of 220 m. Total of 1,35 bln drams were allocated from the
budgetary funds for the tunnel construction carried out from March
8 to September 20 , 2008.
‘This brave project started to be implemented three years go on the
initiative of ex- President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, after which
it went on under aegis of and strict supervision of the ncumbent RA
President Serzh Sargsyan’, Y. Zakharyan said. The mayor expressed
gratitude to the American billionaire of the Armenian origin Kirk
Krkoryan, who financed the activity of the ‘Linsy’ Fund, as well as
to all those having participated in designing and construction of
the tunnel.
