GEORGIA AND ARMENIA TO SET UP CONSORTIUM ON CONSTRUCTION OF HIGHWAY BETWEEN THE TWO STATES

ArmInfo. Georgia and Armenia have adopted a decision to set up
consortium on construction of highway between the two states which will
run via Ajarian region of Georgia, Armenian and Georgian presidents
Serzh Sargsyan and Mikheil Sahakashvili said at the joint briefing
in Tbilisi, as Hayastani Hanrapetutyun daily says.
Georgian president hopes the consortium will find the needed sums
for construction of this highway in 2 months. He also added that the
Georgian party has already started its construction to which foreign
financial means will be directed.
‘I am happy for the arrangements made, in particular, for the agreement
about setting up the consortium. This is a very important circumstance
for us. We have arranged not to create obstacles to our peoples,
promote their welfare, develop economic cooperation. stability in
Georgia is so much important for us that we can compare it only with
stability of our country.
About 70% of Armenian foreign trade is implemented via Georgia. Many
our brothers and sisters live in Georgia for many centuries. And we
should take this into consideration’, – Armenian president said.
