It’s already 90 years that Armenia and Ukraine have had diplomatic
relations. Dean of the International Relations Department of the
Yerevan State University did not miss the opportunity to meet his
classmate and invite him to give a lecture for his students.

Being an Armenologist, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Armenia Olexander
Bozhko has long investigated the Armenia and Ukrainian archives and
has collected rather interesting information about the friendship and
collaboration between the two peoples. In particular, according to
the Tsar’s order, Armenian merchants got advantages and built schools
and churches on Ukrainian land.

According to the Ambassador, the only shortcoming in the
Armenian-Ukrainian relations is the improper knowledge of each other’s
contemporary history. According to Olexander Bozhko, Armenian children
should get detailed information about the history of the brotherly
Ukrainian nation from textbooks.

The Ambassador of Ukraine noted that all Armenian churches
reconstructed by the Ukrainian authorities have been returned to
the Armenian community. The volumes of exportation experience 30%
rise annually. As an example Mr. Bozhko noted that more cognac is
sold in Ukraine than in Armenia. However, to organize the bilateral
cooperation, Presidnet Serzh Sargsyan will visit Ukraine in the near
future, where an Armenian-Ukr ainian forum is to be organized.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
