COLORADO CHAIR PAMELA BARSAM BROWN CONTINUES
OUTREACH EFFORTS
Pamela Barsam Brown, Colorado Chair of ARAMAC, has been extremely active
in working with the Colorado Congressional delegation to ensure that
issues of importance to the Armenian-American community remain at the
forefront of their agenda. Congressman Mark Udall has been an important
ally in her efforts.
Rep. Udall has long been an advocate for issues that are meaningful to
the Armenian-American community. He is a member of the Armenian Caucus
and a co-sponsor of both House Resolution 102, which officially condemns
the 2007 assassination of human rights advocate and outspoken defender
of freedom of the press, Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink, as well
as House Resolution 106, the Armenian Genocide recognition bill.
Ms. Barsam Brown recently noted that, "Mark’s dedication to our
community’s issues has been unwavering. His leadership has promoted
awareness for the concerns for which we advocate and has resulted in a
significant increase in the level of support amongst our Colorado
Members of Congress. Mark’s vision has paved the way for us to
anticipate an even stronger level support in the next Congress, making
him an honorary Rocky Mountain Hye."
Rep. Udall expressed his appreciation for the Assembly, stating, "I am
grateful to the Armenian Assembly of America for highlighting my record
on Armenian-American issues in my ten years as a member of the House of
Representatives. I have been proud to stand with Armenian-Americans to
fight for recognition of the Armenian Genocide as well as for expanded
U.S. assistance programs to Armenia, strengthening democratic
institutions in that country, and cooperating on regional concerns, such
as resolution of the Nagorno-Karabagh conflict."
Established in 1972, the Armenian Assembly of America is the largest
Washington-based nationwide organization promoting public understanding
and awareness of Armenian issues. The Assembly is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt
membership organization.
