ARKA NEWS AGENCY (ARMENIA) HONORABLE MENTION PRIZE

YEREVAN, October 20. /ARKA/. The ARKA News Agency (Armenia) has been
awarded a diploma and an honorable mention prize for participating
in a contest under the program of European monitoring in Armenia’s
mass media. The contest was organized by the European Integration
NGO and the International Alert NGO.

At the awarding ceremony, Karen Bekaryan, Chairman of the European
Integration organization, stated that the ARKA News Agency deserved
the prize for actively covering issues of European integration in
the context of regional cooperation.

He said that the monitoring had been conducted since April and involved
ten media outlets – five newspapers and five news agencies – as a
component of International Alert programs. Among the awardees are
the Novosti-Armenia and Noyan Tapan agencies, as well as the Armedia
information and analytical agency.

The prizes were provided by the CE and NATO information offices,
OSCE office in Armenia and office of the European Commission.
