President Of Russia Arrives In Armenia

PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA ARRIVES IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 20, ARMENPRESS: President of Russian Federation
Dmitri Medvedev arrived today in Yerevan on an official visit at the
invitation of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.

Armenian president, foreign minister, Armenian ambassador to Russia,
Russian ambassador to Armenia and other officials welcomed the guests
in the airport.

The delegation headed by the Russian president consists of Russian
Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Transport Minister Igor Levitin,
Energy Minister Sergey Shmadko, other officials and businessmen.

This is the first visit of Dmitri Medvedev to Armenia as president
of Russia.

After the greeting ceremony the two presidents were driven to the
residence of the President of Armenia, where on behalf of Armenian
president, a dinner was given in the honor of Russian president.

Within the frameworks of the official visit the presidents will have
a face-to-face meeting, followed by extended negotiations. After the
end of the negotiations different documents on cooperation will be
signed, then Serzh Sargsyan and Dmitri Medvedev will make statements
summing up the result of negotiations.

The two presidents will be present at the opening ceremony of Russian
square in Yerevan. Within the frameworks of the official visit Dmitri
Medvedev will visit Tsitsernakaberd, where he will put a wreath on
the memorial to the victims of Armenian Genocide, write down a note
in the book of honorable guests and will plant a tree in the park of
memory in Tsitsernakaberd.

On the eve of the arrival of the Russian president the 10th session of
Armenian-Russian inter-governmental economic cooperation commission
took place during which a number of issues on mutual interests were
discussed.
