Azerbaijan president to visit Iran soon

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will reportedly pay an official
visit to the Islamic Republic by the end of the current year.

""Officials of the two countries are making preparations for the
visit,"" said Nasser Hamidi Zare, Iran’s ambassador to Azerbaijan,
without mentioning a date for the visit.

""During his visit to Azerbaijan in August last year, Ahmadinejad
invited his counterpart Ilham Aliyev to visit Iran and Aliyev accepted
the invitation,"" he continued.

The Iranian official added that several documents on cooperation
between the two neighboring countries are expected to be signed during
Aliyev’s upcoming visit.

Iran was one of the first countries to establish full diplomatic
relations with Baku after Azerbaijan claimed independence from the
former Soviet Union in 1991.

Aliyev was re-elected as Azerbaijan’s president last week; earlier
this week he was congratulated over his victory by Iranian President
Mahmud Ahmadinejad. (Source: Press TV)

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
