/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The influence of the U.S. and EU in the Middle East
and the Caucasus is dwindling, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr
Mottaki said on Friday.
Addressing the World Economic Forum in Istanbul, Mottaki said the most
recent Western attempts to intervene in the Caucasus following
August’s war in Georgia were "fruitless."
`Regional efforts to solve the crisis would function better without
them,’ he said.
The Iranian Minister also said that his country has no illusions as
regards the next U.S. President. `We saw 5 Presidents, Democrats and
Republicans, during the past 30 years. And there was no difference
between them. Now, both presidential candidates pledge changes but
their statements are rather vague,’ Mottaki said.
