LOS ANGELES, NOVEMBER 4, ARMENIANS TODAY – NOYAN TAPAN. Australia-based
boxer of Armenian origin Vic (Vakhtang) Drachinyan on November 1
knocked out Mexican Cristian Mijares in the ninth round, becoming
the world IBF, WBC and WBA champion in the same weight class (52.1 kg).
This was the first defeat of the Mexican boxer since 2002, and the
31st win of V. Darchinyan. The 32-year-old Darchinyan has been defeated
only once so far.
