He met with NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer in Brussels
on Wednesday.

"Serzh Sargsyan attributes large significance to cooperation with
NATO as an element of Armenian security," the presidential press
office told Interfax on Thursday in comments on the meeting.

Sargsyan and de Hoop Scheffer lauded the current level of NATO-
Armenia relations and the fulfillment of the Individual Partnership
Program. "They also acclaimed the recent NATO exercises in Armenia,"
the press office said.

De Hoop Scheffer and Sargsyan voiced the importance of regional
peace and stability and said that the political dialog was the only
acceptable way to resolve any problems.

The NATO chief welcomed progress in the Karabakh settlement and the
Armenian-Turkish dialog and voiced support to those processes.

Sargsyan also had a meeting with EU High Representative for the
Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana. "The sides said
that regional stability and peace were the main preconditions of
development and prosperity," the press office said.

"Solana expressed support to the Karabakh settlement negotiations
and the dialog between Armenia and Turkey," the press office said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
