MONKS BRAWL AT JERUSALEM HOLY SITE

Police say no one was seriously injured Sunday when dozens of monks
kicked and punched each other at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher
in Jerusalem.
The brawl erupted between Greek Orthodox and Armenian monks, whose
denominations share control of the church, believed by adherents
to be the site where Jesus’s crucifixion and resurrection occurred,
CNN reported.
Rivalries between the two sects often lead to tension, as was the case
Sunday when police detained two monks, one from each denomination,
and many other monks were left with cuts and bruises, CNN reported.
The monks were preparing for a ceremony at the church when the
fistfight erupted, police said.
