Georgia, Tbilisi, 12 November / corr TrendNews N.Kirtzkhalia / "
Armenia refutes media reports on construction of new Russian military
bases in its territory," David Kezerashvili, Georgian defense minister,
said after a meeting with Seyran Oganyan, Armenian minister of defense.
"We asked our colleague about plans on construction of military bases
by Russia, but they denied this report," Georgian minister said.
Georgian and Russian media reported a month ago that Russia intended
to build two new military bases and one of the bases – at the border
with Georgia.
Sides will discuss the issues of bilateral military cooperation and
regional security, Kezerashvili said.
Answering to a question of journalists, Armenian minister also refuted
categorically the Georgian media reports that Russian planes, which
bombed Tbilisi and Georgia’s other regions during the events of August,
flew up from military bases, located in Armenia.
On 12 November the Armenian minister of defense will lay a wreath
at a memorial in the honor of people, who were killed for Georgian
territorial integrity. He will meet with Grigolo Mgaloblishvili,
Georgian prime minister afterwards.
