COURT PASSES SENTENCE ON ARMENIAN ATTEMPTING TO ESCAPE FROM PRISON IN BAKU

court has passed a sentence on Azerbaijani citizen of Armenian origin
attempting to escape from prison.
"Binagadi district court sentenced Eqdar Sarkisyan to two months
in jail in a trial chaired by the judge Tarlan Alakbarov today,"
a source in Prosecutor Office of Binagadi region said to Trend News.
The prisoner Egdar Eduardovich Sarkisyan, serving his term in jail 11,
attempted to escape through the door of the prisons meant for trucks
on November 8.
Sarkisyan, 23, has been sentenced to 14 years in jail with charges of
sexual violence towards a person under 14 years (article 150.3.3),
beating (Article 132) and punishment as result of total crimes
(Article 66.3).
The chief warders of the prison shot Sarkisyan at his foot while
attempting to escape.
Sarkisyan was hospitalized at the treatment center of the Penitentiary
Service.
The Prosecutor’s Office said after the incident a suit has been filed
on an attempt of escape from jail or custody (Article 304.1of Penal
Code). An investigation has been launched into the fact.
While speaking of causes of his escape, Sarkisyan said the term
he hasbeen sentenced to is too long and therefore he decided to
escape. "Sarkisyan said he is not dissatisfied with the management,
workers of the prison and prisoners. He said he simply wanted to live
alone in a free society," a source in Prosecutor’s Office said.
Sarkisyan pursued sponger style of life in his childhood and said he
would pursue the same life style and live in Azerbaijan after escaping
from prison.
In 2003, Sarkisyan was sentenced to 4 years in jail for the first
time by the Nasimi District Court with charges of robbery (177.2.2),
burglary (177.2.3) and inflicting a large damage by robbery (177.2.4).
On the same year, he escaped from juvenile prison of Penitentiary
Service of Ministry of Justice and was detained a week
later. Therefore, he was sentenced to additional 4 years in jail by
Khatai District Court with charges of escaping from prison (304.1).
Sarkisyan was released as a result of Pardon Act of 2007. He committed
the last crime on February 22 and detained on July 17 and sentenced
to 14 years in jail.
Sarkisyan was in the list of prisoners tending to escape when he was
in prison.
