ArmInfo. The income to the state from commissioning of Teghut
deposit will make up $10 mln and the damage to the environment –
$130 mln, a well-known Armenian economist, ex-MP Tatul Manaseryan
told journalists today in ‘De-facto’ club. He also said that the
given size of the damage has been calculated by ‘Vallex’ Company in
a strongly minimized form.
According to their cited data, one square meter of a territory directly
under a mine was evaluated of 3 drams, terricones – 2,5 drams, a
tailings pond – 8 drams, an artificial lake – 0,9 drams. ‘Moreover,
is it known that three rivers will disappear as a result of the Teghut
commissioning works.
The damage from it was calculated by a live weight of the fish being
harbored there. As a result, each river was evaluated at 175,000
drams. The forests to be cut down have been evaluated as a fuel less
regard to the circumstance that this is a source of oxygen and part
of the echosystem. As a result, Teghut forests ‘cost’ 2-3 times less
than a dry wood similar in weight’, T. Manaseryan said.
He added that the state cannot stop the Teghut exploitation programmes
as the relevant agreements have already been signed. ‘Another thing
is wonderful: the Teghut data in several volumes were considered by
the government within a few days.
Those having given a green light to the project, could think if not
about the future of its people, but even about the future of its
relatives and friends living in this country’, the economist said.
He drew the attention to the fact that solution on exploitation of
Teghut conflicts with the Aarchus Convention, as well as Article
10 of the Constitution of Armenia ‘The State assures protection and
reproduction of the environment, as well as rational use of natural
resources’.
