/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The armed conflict between Georgia and South Ossetia
opened a new page in Caucasus history and resulted in appearance of
two more independent states [Abkhazia and South Ossetia] recognized by
Russia, director of the institute of CIS studies Konstantin Zatulin
said when opening an international conference on Caucasus in Yerevan
today.

"Simultaneously, changes are observed in the Armenian-Turkish
relations. It’s worth noting that Russia backed Turkey’s Caucasus
stability pact," he said.

The participants of the conference will also consider the impact
of the August events on the Karabakh conflict settlement and the
Armenian-Turkish reconciliation.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
