FRANCE TELECOM RECEIVES FINAL LICENCE OF THIRD OPERATOR OF MOBILE COMMUNICATION IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 19, NOYAN TAPAN. The RA Public Services Regulatory
Commission has granted the final licence of the third operator of
mobile communication to France Telecom company which is registerted
in Armenia as FTA-Telecom. The licence was granted for a 15-year
period with the right to extend it for another 15 years. On November
19 FTA-Telecom receives permission to use radiofrequences for 10
years. The company will provide phone numbers by +374(0)55 and
+374(0)95 codes.
According to the licence terms, the company is obliged to ensure a
GSM coverage in Yerevan and 42 cities within two years after receiving
its licence.
The company is also obliged to ensure a cell phone coverage in
at least 200 villages of Armenia and for 85% of transport nodes
connecting Armenia with Georgia and Iran within three years after
receiving its licence.
FTA-Telecom shall transfer an amount of 51.5 million euros during a
banking day for receiving the licence of the third operator of mobile
communication in Armenia. The company will operate under the brand
"Orange" in Armenian market.
