CONSOLIDATION OF ARMENIAN-GREEK INTER-PARLIAMENTARY RELATIONS UNDERSCORED

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 20, ARMENPRESS: Armenian National Assembly Speaker
Hovik Abrahamian received today Greek ambassador to Armenia Ioanis
Korintious.

National Assembly press service told Armenpress that considering the
development of Armenian-Greek inter-state relations necessary, Hovik
Abrahamian underscored the consolidation of inter-parliamentary
ties which will be a big impetus for registering progress in
trade-industrial and scientific-cultural spheres.

Armenian NA speaker invited his Greek counterpart Dimitris Syufas to
pay an official visit to Armenia, giving a great importance to the
mutual visits during which opportunities are being created to get
acquainted with concrete cooperation directions on the place.

For the development of economic ties between the two countries
the interlocutors underscored the involvement of businessmen in
delegation who may get acquainted with economic branches of Armenia and
investments opportunities, besides a business-forum will be organized.

The NA speaker also suggested that a memorandum be signed with the
Greek parliament which will register the readiness and directions of
cooperation between the two parliaments.

It was noted that in the NA a parliamentary friendship group with
Greek parliament has been created which on its part may promote the
development of effective inter-parliamentary ties.

Hovik Abrahamian also referred to the importance of establishment
of close ties between the delegations of the two parliaments in
international establishments.

The ambassador in his turn conveyed the congratulations of the Greek
parliament speaker to Hovik Abrahamian on being elected speaker
of the Armenian National Assembly. Referring to the visit of Greek
parliament speaker, the ambassador said he will specify the time of
the visit ad inform Armenian NA speaker.

The ambassador also informed that in the Greek newly elected
parliament a friendship group with the Armenian parliament has also
been established.

During the meeting they also discussed a number of regional issues.
