YEREVAN, November 20. /ARKA/. The management of three Armenian banks
awarded 77 of their retired employees on the occasion of Bank Employee
Day and the 15th anniversary of the introduction of Armenian Dram,

Apart from money award, the pensioners have received food assistance
with support of the most of Armenian banks.

Pensioners are the most socially insecure part of the society and
it is important to give attention to them, Hakobyan said adding that
the majority of awardees worked in the banking sector for more than
40 years.

Armenian Dram was officially introduced as the national currency of
Armenia on November 22 1993.

Today 22 commercial banks with a total of 367 branches operate
in Armenia.

Total staff of Armenian banks was 7,998 employees at the end of
September this year against 6,498 employees at the end of September
last year.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
