YEREVAN, November 21. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Prime Minister Tigran

to discuss the ways to combat the effects of the global financial
crisis on Armenia.

The premier introduced the IMF representative to the Armenian
government’s approach to the issue and the country’s policy focused
on macroeconomic stability and economic growth, the RA Government’s
Press Service reports.

Portugual has paid a visit to Armenia to participate in the
celebrations of the 15th anniversary of the Armenian dram.

The Armenian dram (AMD) was officially introduced as the national
currency of Armenia on November 22, 1993. The exchange rate was
initially set at 200 Russian roubles per AMD 1. Armenia has remained
loyal to its floating exchange rate policy since 1994.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
