LATVIA INTERESTED IN DEEPENING RELATIONS WITH ARMENIA

Within the framework of his visit to Latvia, the Foreign Minister of
Armenia, Edward Nalbandian, had a meeting with the President of the
Republic of Latvia Valdis Zatlers.
Greeting Edward Nalbandian, President Zatlers noted that Latvia is
interested in deepening and reinforcing the relations with Armenia.
Recalling his visit with the President of Armenia in New York in
September, Valdis Zatlers informed he intends to visit Armenia
next year.
Congratulating Mr. Zatlers on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of
Latvia’s statehood, Edwrad Nalbandian said the high level political
dialogue between the two countries and the broad contractual-legal
field serves as a basis for the further expansion of collaboration.
The Armenian Minister presented to the Latvian President the
negotiation process on the Karabakh conflict settlement and the
opportunities of normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations.
During the meeting reference was made to Armenia-EU relations. Taking
into consideration Latvia’s rich experience of European integration,
President Zatlers expressed willingness to render assistance to
Armenia in this direction.
