24.11.2008 – Armenia beat Serbia 3:1, Ukraine took Israel down with a
2½:1½ win. Veselin Topalov ended his winning streak with a painful
loss to Alexei Shirov (Spain beat Bulgaria 3:1). In the Women’s Section
China lost to Georgia and is now in place seven. The final round is
on Tuesday and starts at 10 a.m. German time. A full pictorial report

38th Chess Olympiad Dresden 2008 The Olympiad is taking place from
November 12th to 25th, 2008, in the Congress Hall in Dresden, Saxony,
Germany. 156 teams from 152 nations are participating, with most of
the top players present.

Round Ten Open Section

After his round nine loss Levon Aronian bounced back with a quick
victory over Ivan Ivanisevic, and with a second victory by Vladimir
Akopian Armenia beat Serbia 3:1. Ukraine took Israel down a peg
when Zahar Efimenko beat Evgeny Postny, and England lost to China
1½:2½. Germany lost to the US, while Russia trounced Slovenia
3½:½. Spain beat Bulgaria 3:1, with Alexei Shirov and Francisco
Vallejo defeating Veselin Topalov and Ivan Cheparinov respectively. The
Netherlands beat Poland 2½:1½.

After the dust had settled Armenia was once again at the top of
the table, but sharing match points, 17/20, with Ukraine. Israel,
the leader after the previous round, was joint 3-4 with China, both
having 16/20. Behind them top seed Russia, Netherlands, Spain and
USA have 15/20.
