VIKTOR HAMBARTSUMIAN’S 100th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY MARKED AT NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES OF BELARUS

MINSK, NOVEMBER 25, NOYAN TAPAN. A solemn sitting dedicated to the
100th anniversary of great Armenian scientist Viktor Hambartsumian
was held on November 21 at the sitting hall of presidium of National
Academy of Sciences of Belarus with the joint efforts of the Academy
and the Embassy of Armenia in Belarus. The sitting was conducted by
academician P. Vityaz, the First Vice-Chairman of presidium of the
National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
As Noyan Tapan was informed by the Press and Information Department
of the RA Foreign Ministry, members of presidium of the National
Academy of Sciences of Belarus, academicians, ambassadors of CIS
participant countries in Belarus and resident plenipotentiaries
of participant countries in CIS structures, RA Deputy Minister of
Education and Science B. Yesayan, RA Embassy’s diplomats took part
in the sitting. Ambassador of Armenia to Belarus Oleg Yesayan made
a greeting speech.
Academicians N. Borisevich, N. Kozak, V. Aghabekov, I. Gayshun, and
other prominent figures of science of Belarus made speeches about
the great contribution of the world-famous Armenian scientist in the
sphere of astrophysics. They also touched upon V. Hambartsumian’s
active public activity in their speeches.
