Twice champion of the World Chess Olympic Games, the Armenian
representative team of male players yesterday left Dresden for
Yerevan. The champions arrived in the capital city at 19:15 p.m. As
we know, President Serge Sargsyan went to Dresden before the final
and decisive round of the Olympic competitions. The whole staff of
the Security Council met our brilliant winners at the airport, and
the Ministers, Deputies and the other senior officials, as well as
thousands of Armenian chess fans were waiting for them in the Sports
and Concert Complex of Tsitsernakaberd.
The gala concert had begun two hours before their arrival. Passing
along the road extending from "Zvarthnots" airport to the Sports
Complex, our Olympic champions received the greetings of thousands of
inhabitants of Yerevan; thereafter, they reached the centre of the
town and did a lap of honor on the Republican Square together with
the President. Then, they arrived in the concert hall where their
victory was being celebrated in solemn conditions.
