In the 38th World Chess Olympic Games held in Dresden, the Armenian
representative team of men defended its title of World Champion.

Having won the quartet of China in the final round, our team really
attained a historic success because very few representative teams
have so far managed to win the heart of the goddess of the wise in
two successive Olympic Games.

By a twist of fate, the Armenian team won the victorious point thanks
to Tigran L. Petrosyan, the namesake of the 9th World Champion. Let’s
note that President Serge Sargsyan left for Dresden to encourage our
team at that decisive moment.
