ARARAT FC SUES THE PRESIDENT OF FOOTBALL FEDERATION

The dispute between the president of Ararat FC and the president of the
football federation Ruben Hairapetyan has reached the office of the
prosecutor general. In a news conference on November 28 the leadership
of Ararat said they are going to sue Ruben Hairapetyan for assaulting
Varujan Simonov, the director of Ararat FC.
Simonov said during the news conference that the incident was on
November 15, after the match Pyunik-Ararat in the last round of the
championship of Armenia, which Ararat won and earned the right to play
with Pyunik for the title of champion.
Simonov said after the victory of Ararat in the game with Pyunik he ran
into the field and shouted that they will be champion looking at the
fans among whom Ruben Hairapetyan was sitting. Simonov said he did not
address Ruben Hairapetyan personally but later Hairapetyan went to him
and asked to explain his action. The media reported that Hairapetyan
dragged Simonov by the collar in the field after the game.
Simonov left but as soon as he went up to his car, one of Ruben
Hairapetyan’s bodyguards went up to him and took him somewhere he did
not know, it was a construction site. Hairapetyan’s bodyguards were
already there, then Ruben Hairapetyan came, and according to Simonov,
Hairapetyan insulted him and punched him several times. Varujan Simonov
s
ays a friend who came there took them away.
The president of Ararat FC Hrach Kaprielyan was also present who stated
that there is evidence and Ruben Hairapetyan must be punished, and with
this expectation they apply to the office of prosecutor general on
December 1.
