SOUTH CAUCASIAN RAILWAYS REDUCE TARIFFS FROM 1 DECEMBER

ArmInfo. CJSC South-Caucasian Railways issued an order on 28 November
2008 on 30% reduction of cement export tariff in case of applicable
warrantees of the coordinated traffic volumes. The company also made
a decision to reduce tariffs of container carriages.
South Caucasian Railways press-service told ArmInfo the order
was issued to soften the influence of the world economic crisis on
Armenia’s economy, to support local exporters and maintain the traffic
volume of the company. In addition, the order was issued in compliance
with the Agreement with Georgian Railways ‘On traffic of container
trains of Georgian and Armenian railways in the international railway
communication’. The aforementioned changes will come into effect
beginning from 1 December 2008.
